ABOUT MOODLIGHTING

Moodlighting first tried to get off the ground in early 2020 with a handful of shoegaze songs and a craigslist ad. After the pandemic started, founding couple Alex (guitar) and Sophie (vocals) used lockdown to write new songs, emerging with an album's worth of material. By injecting spacious textures and gritty noise into short songs with punchy melodies, the resulting sound sits somewhere between dream pop, shoegaze, and indie rock.

Moodlighting began playing shows in 2021 and has so far shared the stage with bands like Porridge Radio, Blushing, and Ratboys. After the release of their debut LP in 2022, a cross-country move forced Moodlighting into a period of feverish writing and recording that led to more songs than they knew what to do with. Gutter rabbit is the first album from this time, releasing February 7th, 2025.
